Visions of the Future

In this new three-part documentary, leading theoretical physicist and futurist Dr Michio Kaku explores the cutting edge science of today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Part One:In the opening instalment, Kaku explains how artificial intelligence will revolutionise homes, workplaces and lifestyles, and how virtual worlds will become so realistic that they will rival the physical world. Robots with human-level intelligence may finally become a reality, and in the ultimate stage of mastery, we’ll even be able to merge our minds with machine intelligence.

For the first time we see how a severely depressed patient can be turned into a happy person at the push of a button – all thanks to the cross-pollination of neuroscience and artificial intelligence.

The Intelligence Revolution

Part Two: Genetics and Biotechnology promise a future of unprecedented health and longevity: DNA screening could prevent many diseases, gene therapy could cure them and, thanks to lab-grown organs, the human body could be repaired as easily as a car, with spare parts readily available. Ultimately, the aging process itself could be slowed down or even halted. Leading theoretical physicist and futurist Michio Kaku looks at the revolution in genetics and biotechnology, which promises unprecedented health and longevity but also raises the notion of a Frankenstein future of genetically engineered people. Will we, as trans-humanists expect, evolve into a new species? Dr Kaku warns that we may end up in a world divided by genetic apartheid.

The Biotech Revolution

This third part of the “Visions of the Future” series deals with being able to master the manipulation of matter at the deepest level, the atom.
Being able to manipulate matter at this level with extreme control and speed puts us on a path to developing devices straight out of science fiction such as the “Star Trek” replicator and according to researchers technology like this is not all that far off.

Other subjects covered by Kaku are invisibility using meta-materials, the pros and cons of nanotechnology which are already proving to hold an incredible future for medicine and existential horror that could result if in the wrong hands.

  • Education brings revolution, its impacts merges and drives deep into one’s mind and soul thus can alter one’s thinking and action and can bring revolution by changing one’s mind and giving a new perspective to see things and act.
